Anthony Neal
Anthony Neal, Instructor, Griffith Aikido
Growing up on the wrong side of the railway tracks as the youngest of 7 children, Tony Senseithinks this was one of the many reasons why he didn't fit into society well, until discovering Aikido that is. This school of hard knocks taught Tony much, including a healthy respect for the law, sometimes the hard way. After spending many years in the army and then running a successful busness, Tony today is content to train at more aikido dojos in Brisbane that anyone else. Today he also shares his wisdon teaching at Griffith Aikido's Logan dojo in addition to his own dojo at Capalaba.
Sensei began Aikido when one day he realised that he might not always be as strong as he is today and sought something that would develop his abilities as he got older. His introduction to Aikido came through nearby Cleveland dojo with Sensei's Hansen and Loader and soon developed into a serious commitment to Aikido.
Tony believes that if he has excelled at anything its because of his persistance and hard work, rather than his innate talent. Whilst the path of harmony with others through Aikido is one of the things that draws others to aikido, Sensei cites the opportunity to tie people into pretzels and not get into trouble for it as one of his.
